Domestic Policy of Hitler
Germany became a dictatorship. The dictator was capable of taking quick decisions. He attracted the youth, middle classes, bureaucrats and armed forces towards the Nazi Movement.
1. Economic Reforms
(i) All strikes and lockouts were forbidden.
(ii) The problem of foreign debt was solved by not allowing to carry any money out of Germany
(iii) Big industries were brought under strict control of the state.
(iv) Wages and prices of all the commodities were fixed.
(v) In order to conserve food for war purposes, butter and most articles of food were rationed.

(i) Except the Nazi party rest all the opposition parties were crushed
(ii) Freedom of press was taken away. It was used to propagate Nazi propaganda.
(iii) School, radio, cinema and literature all were used to popularise Nazi cause.
(iv) Germany became a police state. Government controlled every aspect of life of the people.
->3. Anti- Semitism or Hatred towards Jews: Nazis propagated that Germany lost the First World War because they were betrayed by the Jews and the Communists. Germany can never become strong until all the non-German elements are eliminated.
(i) The Jews who wanted admission to the Nazi Party had first to prove that there were no Jews among their ancestors back to the year 1800 AD
(ii) In 1935 German citizenship of the Jews was taken away and all their property was confiscated.
(iii) In 1937 Ghetto Laws were implemented under which Jews were forced to live in isolation.
(iv) In 1938 Nazis attacked the Jewish property including their religious places. That night is known as Kristallnacht (the night of broken glass)
(v) In 1942 concentration camps were established, where Jews were brought from all the German occupied territories and killed, some in Gas Chambers which were filled with poisonous gases. This was known as the ‘ Final Solution’.
